Partially hydrogenated oils are the main source of industrial trans fat, which raises LDL cholesterol and the risk of heart disease. In 2015 FDA determined they are no longer generally recognized as safe, and manufacturers had to stop adding them to foods.

A label that lists it may be out of date. Nutrition Facts can show 0 g trans fat when a serving has less than 0.5 g.
